My Keyshia Cole Audition

After coming across an ad seeking "magical" performers for Keyshia Cole, I decided to take a chance and see what would happen. So, I drove to the designated audition location in Burbank, California, parked my car, put my 7-inch black, sexy platform heels on, and walked out towards the studios making an entrance like a star. I grabbed my assigned number, thirty six, and waited for about twenty minutes before being ushered into studio twelve along with the others were we’d learn choreography to a Cole song. An hour passed, and the routine, difficult to perform with HUGE heels, got better with each passing second. Keep in mind, this was my first audition EVER in the Los Angeles area. Chris Grant, choreographer to many stars, did an EXCELLENT job instructing us; I felt so comfortable with him and ultimately, proud of myself even if a "gender blender" wasn't what they were seeking. I saw this as an opportunity to learn and experience, and felt extremely humbled. After the dance session concluded, I decided to make my way up to Chris and give him my resume explaining to him that I wasn’t going to audition for any of the parts, but that I was interested in any other jobs regarding logistics or operations. I explained to him that I had just moved to LA about three weeks ago and that, quite frankly, I was searching for a job. I handed over my information, thanked him for his time, and after confidently explaining that I possess various skills that could help them successfully accomplish their goals with the up and coming tour, I proudly walked towards my car. In conclusion, today I did something I would have never done in Dallas and thus, was reassured I’m in the right place at this moment in my life. My only plan as of now is to use every opportunity that I come across to knock on new doors and successfully expand on my artistic career. First audition in LA- done, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next, so BRING IT ON LA!!!!
