Growing up, beauty appeared to be defined by individuals endowed with colored eyes and/or colored hair. It was typical to see artists, actors, and entertainers with such features on Mexican TV Novelas, American shows/movies, and album covers. My brown eyes, black hair, and tan skin inferior, or so I thought. With age comes wisdom and I’ve found that being fully comfortable in one’s skin is something that one really begins to embrace during the late 20’s, early 30s. While an internal sense of confidence gradually grew day by day, it wasn’t until Kim Kardashian came into the spotlight and showcased a “different” type of beauty that I truly embraced and celebrated my physical features. The jet black hair, brown eyes, curvy body, exotic flare… She didn’t fit social norms and for once I really felt a connection to a celebrity who wasn’t dying her hair, wearing contacts, or playing down where she came from for purposes of fitting in to society. She unapologetically was who she was and you either accepted her or didn’t.

The widely popular sex tape she starred in along with Ray J kick started the Kardashian empire. We’ve invested money, time, and emotions into their products and have seen them grow and mature right in front of our eyes. They’ve shown the power of family and unity through thick and thin and at the end of the day, family is EVERYTHING! So, I wanted to take time to thank Kim Kardashian for all that she’s done; for being the G.O.A.T. of the family and the controversial, exotic, CEO beauty that she is. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about those who have had the opportunity of meeting her and while I know Kris Jenner is the mastermind behind it all, Kim’s played a massively instrumental role to their imperial success. Thank you for positively injecting a different beauty perspective into the world and promoting unity amongst family! <3
